Our solutions for calves feeding
Why is hygiene important when feeding calves?
The first weeks after the birth of a calf have a strong influence on the further development and productivity of a dairy cow. Feeding from clean bottles or buckets are essential for feeding calves. The immune system of calves that have ingested colostrum does not start until the calf is 4 till 7 weeks old. Until then, but certainly afterwards, hygiene is a priority when feeding the calves. In the first week a calf is vulnerable and prone to health problems. By ensuring the hygiene of the bottles or buckets, many common diseases can be prevented.
Calves need antibodies to protect themselves. A calf can’t produce these antibodies itself in the first weeks of life, which is why calves are completely dependent on the antibodies that are in colostrum. The most common cause of bacterial contamination is that the materials are not clean. That is why the Bottle Washer is a good addition to the farm to ensure hygiene and to raise healthy calves.

What are the advantages of composting waste?
Composting is the natural process of decomposing and recycling organic materials into a humus-rich soil improver. Any organization that produces food waste can easily break down this organic waste into high-quality compost. The composting process is accelerated and fully controlled in the DTE Envirodrum. This accelerated composting technique significantly reduces the amount of waste and closes the cycle of waste flows.
How the composting process with the DTE Envirodrum works
Composting is the natural process of decomposing and recycling organic materials into a humus-rich soil improver. Any organization that produces food waste can easily break down this organic waste into high-quality compost. The composting process is accelerated and fully controlled in the Envirodrum.
The composting process takes place in the drum of the Envirodrum. Composting in a drum or container is also known as the in-vessel composting method.
STEP 1: In-vessel composting method
The feed auger ensures that the food waste is added to the installation in the right amount. By gradually adding the waste, the compost installation can continue to run and energy consumption is minimized. The rotation of the drum and the right amount of air supply speeds up the composting process of food waste considerably. The compost drum is suitable for composting different types of food waste, such as potatoes, vegetables and even coffee waste. The process is tailored to the type and amount of waste.
STEP 2: Composting by using the present bacteria
Composting occurs through the activities of bacteria and fungi (micro-organisms) that are already naturally present in the organic material. They break down the material. Insulation plates are attached to the inside of the drum. These linear planks on the inside provide insulation, prevent wear and tear and can harbor bacteria in the interstices. By rotating the drum and the right amount of air supply, the composting process can be accelerated and fully controlled.
STEP 3: Control and adjust the process
The entire process inside the Envirodrum can be monitored and adjusted on the control panel. The control panel is also available online.
STEP 4: Resulting in high-quality compost
The hygienic and dry material that comes out of the Envirodrum is scent free. Due to the optimal composting process, the amount has been significantly reduced and the residual product is extremely suitable as compost and soil improver.

Choose the BeddingMaster from Mavasol
The BeddingMaster has been developed by combining age-old composting techniques and the knowledge and experience of Daritech. The BeddingMaster converts cow manure into comfortable and hygienic bedding material. The verified and controlled composting process allows manure to be reused in livestock cubicles. Clean and affordable bedding, pleasant for humans and animals.
Manure is a valuable product that can be used to earn money in livestock farming. With the BeddingMaster, the manure is efficiently converted into a valuable product for the farmer and a high level of comfort and health for the cows. Mavasol helps dairy farmers to comply with environmental regulations for their manure. Profit is generated by reducing fertilizer processing costs and increasing fertilizer yield.
We help you on your way to a circular revenue model
Circular economy is becoming increasingly important. By properly handling raw materials and increasing the efficiency of the processes, the carbon footprint can be significantly reduced while saving money for the dairy farm. The BeddingMaster helps livestock farmers to tie the end of the chain to the beginning.
How the Manure Composting process works
Don't waste time and money on sawdust and shavings, Mavasol has the sustainable solution. Bedding developed for dairy farmers who use recycled manure as bedding.
STEP 1: 35% Dry matter
The slurry is pushed out of the boxes and collected in a pit. With the Screw Press Separator specially designed by Daritech, the water is drained from the manure and 36% dry matter remains. This is the ideal raw material for the BeddingMaster. The solid fertilizers are fed into the BeddingMaster through a fixed opening.
STEP 2: Composting by using the present bacteria
The beauty of composting solid manure is that the aerobic bacteria, which consume the organic matter, are already in the solids thanks to the dairy cows. These bacteria start the composting process.
STEP 3: With proper air supply, rotation and a controlled temperature
Once inside the BeddingMaster, the bacteria multiply, completing the work started in the cows' stomachs. A fan pulls air through the drum, providing an ample supply of air, which mixes with the solids tumbling through the drum's rotation. Within hours, the activity of the bacteria raised the temperature above 65°C (150ºF). Due to the rotation process, the temperature in the machine and the aeration, the manure is completely composted in 12 to 24 hours.
STEP 4: Resulting in a suitable bedding material of compost
The hygienic and dry material that comes out of the BeddingMaster is dry and scent-free. The material is comfortable for cows and can be used directly as bedding material. In addition, the end product can also be used as a soil improver.
The result is a hygienic, scent free and dry beddingmaterial
Thanks to the clean end-product and thus a reduction of bacteria in the stables, the health of the cow is improved. Our manure composting method is now being used on several dairy farms in Europe. In many of these projects, the BeddingMaster is used in combination with a biogas installation. First of all, nutrients are extracted from the manure and other organic waste products and used to generate electricity. After this, the residual product from the biodigester goes to the BeddingMaster to be composted, so that it can be reused as compost or as circular box litter.

Sand as a bedding offers many advantages for the cow. Sand is comfortable, provides grip on the floor and provides an enormous reduction of bacteria which benefits the health of the cow. By filtering the sand from the slurry it can be recycled within a few weeks and at the same time yield an enormous amount of CO2 reduction and cost savings.
Why a sand separation system from Mavasol?
A sand separation system must match your ideas for now and in the future. The Mavasol team maps out your wishes and requirements and gets to work with a proposal. Mavasol's sandseparation system is suitable for sand washing and dewatering of sand. Daritech's proven technology is suitable for sustainable sand- and manure processing in the agricultural sector. Due to the great savings of reusing sand, a sand recovery installation pays for itself in most cases within 4-5 years.
How a sand separation system works
A sand separation system can be installed both indoors and outdoors on your property. When you use sand as a bedding material, you want to separate the manure and the sand from each other as quickly as possible in order to limit CO2 emissions.
STEP 1: collecting sand and manure from the stables
The slurry is pushed out of the stables and collected in a manure pit. Recycled water is added. By adding water, the organic material is released from the sand and floats away with the liquids, this takes place in the main pit in which the sandseparation system is also placed.
STEP 2: filtering the coarse sand from the slurry
All Mavasol sand separation installations work from the same principle: the sand goes up via the screw and is dewatered. The filtered and washed sand is dumped clean. The sand that has been deposited can be reused in the stables after three weeks.
STEP 3: filtering the fine sand from the slurry
The remaining mixture goes to the next separation lanes and sediment strips. The fine sand is filtered out of the slurry through the sediment strips and separation lanes. This results in a total sand recovery of up to 98%
STEP 4: reusing the rinse water
The remaining water, which is virtually free of sand, flows into the collection pit, after which it can be recycled.
Our solutions for sand management
What are the advantages of sand as a bedding material?
Sand as bedding has many advantages for you and your cows. Sand provides comfort, so cows spend more time in the cubicle. Sand provides more grip on the floor, which reduces injuries and this bedding does not support bacterial growth. Sand is also easy to reuse and it is an inexpensive bedding material.
However, sand does cause wear when it ends up in the manure processing equipment. It also takes extra time to fill and manage the stables. When no sand separation system is installed, the manure storage must be emptied regularly, this takes time and is often a lot of work. Sand bedding has been used for more than 30 years and is becoming increasingly popular. This is due to the advantages of the innovative machines and systems. By installing a sand separation system, the manure is separated from the sand, so that the sand does not end up in the manure processing machines and therefore prevents wear.
A sand separation system can be built into an existing location. By reusing pumps and existing pits, a large part of the installation and construction costs can be saved. Due to the great savings of recycling sand, a sand separation system pays for itself in most cases within 4-5 years.
