A profitable business with sandbedding
In this month's newsletter you will find the story of René Cornelissen who sold his farm in the Netherlands and emigrated with is family to Denmark. They now milk 715 cows and a sandseparation system was installed last year. The first measurements indicate a payback period for the sandseparation system at most 5 years.
From a bankrupt estate to a solid organized company
The familie Cornelissen has emigrated to Denmark in 2014. The purchased farm was genuinely bankrupt. And now, 8 years later they milk 715 cows and the choices they make are focused on the future.
"In the summer when the weather was warm, our cows had more health problems, mainly udder infections. Eventually I was so fed up that we emptied the cubicles and filled them with sand. We've got this advice from an advisor who said: 'The best thing you can do is to switch to sand, then you will no longer have work with the cows. But instead you will have work with the manure'. So we did."
This year we installed the sandseparator and this offers us three advantages:
1. We can supply the manure to the biogas installation
2. We have less transport costs
3. The sand is reused within three weeks
